"I'm inspired by many things, but especially poems that speak to
that part of your brain that we usually can't access; poems that are
transcendental. I'm partial to stories that feature characters who find
themselves in situations which are foreign to them. I enjoy that type of
tension. I like trying to make sense of things along with
them."

"Works that move me are well-written realistic
portrayals of struggles and events that happen and, in reality, are close to NOT
happening. A piece needs to speak to me; make me think; react; get up and leave
the house."

“Recently I’ve begun to pay more attention to my process of
writing, how my thoughts, experiences, and emotions become poetry. I’m finding that
there are things within that I had forgotten about, but they are now finding a voice,
reaching the surface. Writing is most powerful when it can provoke similar reactions
from others.”
